Video games are no easy feat to adapt and got even bigger obstacles in their way just making it to the screen from studios that don't understand the material to audiences & critics who aren't sure what they truly want to take away from it even by simplistic entertainment standards.
Do filmmakers approach these too much like comic books and best-selling novel adaptations? Are too many of the plot lines too derivative of far more popular adventure, zombie and other blockbuster movies? Why can some of us not agree on the most basic of premises? Do they benefit more from being allowed to build a world nowadays in a streaming show format? Are the ones that are campy or deliberate comedies the most successful ones to date? And more fighting to the death and first person shooter filled discussion!

After a wonderful intro by The Duras Sisters podcast's Rhianna & Ashlyn, I beam aboard Dan Leckie, the former brainiac editor behind the Star Trek wikia Memory Alpha! Discussed tonight are the prequel spin-offs to the on-going Gene Roddenberry franchise: Enterprise, which is 100 years before The Original Series, and Discovery, which is set exactly 10 years before the original show that started it all!
Which show is the superior outing? Why do all Star Trek shows have a rough landing the first year before they find their voice? Is Enterprise almost as good as Deep Space 9 at showing how militarized Starfleet could be pre-transporters and shielded spaceships? Does Discovery get only hated on by the internet trolls who never realized that the Trek saga was filled to the brim with progressive messages? Why can't most realize that just about all of Trek is apples and oranges despite it seemingly having a far more civil fanbase than Star Wars? Are either of these too different from the Trek formula and more Die Hard/Aliens/The Thing at times or just as Star Wars-like as the J.J. Abrams reboots? And more hard deep diving than the last few Trek based outings!
